SNOW DEPTH
30.5.2020.

To measure the height of the snow cover, two types of snow ruler are in use: permanent and mobile. In both cases, it is the place where the height of the snow is constantly measured.

The permanent snow ruler serves for regular measurements of the height of the snow cover at stations where snow is a regular occurrence. A mobile snow ruler is used to measure the height of the snow cover at stations located in areas where snowfall is rare and, exceptionally, at stations where the snow cover is regular (in the event that there are no permanent snow gauges or damaged ones).

The height of the snow cover should, as a rule, be measured outside the meteoric circle. If this is really impossible, measurements should be made in the meteorological circuit itself.
